Bass Fishing in the Midwest

Filed under: Illinois real estate, Bass Fishing — Admin @ 6:24 pm

Bass fishing is a very American sport. It is one of the few fishing methods that does not owe its origins to England or Europe.

Bass fishing is a very lively recreational sport in USA. Though its beginnings were rather humble, today it sustains a million dollar industry. Bass fishing is excellent, fish are being caught on spinner baits and top water. Crappie fishing is poor, being caught on small minnows. Bass will relate to grass beds, either on the edge or in the middle of the bed, depending on the weather. On sunny days, fish will relate to structure more tightly than on a cloudy day.

Bass can be in many different places, but congregate in deep cover near boat docks, fallen trees, and submerged stump fields. Contrary to the norm for summer, some are caught in the hot water discharges at both power plants. Bass bite is very good at night in drops and points in 15 feet of water. Walleye bite is good near Big Island using night crawlers and spinners in about 18 feet of water.

Bass fishing is best around areas with bottom structure, which is available across much of the entire Ohio near-shore area. ODNR biologists have seen several good hatches in recent years, potentially contributing to good smallmouth bass fishing in the future.

Bass boats are generally made from aluminum or fiberglass. Each type of material has its good points as well as its bad points. Bass tournaments start the launch process at safelight. Bass fishing is a pastime enjoyed by many from all walks of life, young and old alike. Once youve tried out bass fishing, it is likely that youll want your own boat.
